Internship

Our certificate course provided us with an amazing internship opportunity for a whole month as we were all in Lockdown due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. We were one of the luckiest batches in Dubai College of Tourism since an opportunity like this is not easily achievable. The project that we had to work on was called 'VFR Travel' (Visiting Friends and Relatives), which basically is encouraging the Friends and families of those living here to visit Dubai. I was part of the platforms team, and our task was to research the many types of platforms that are available here in Dubai. Once we had our platforms we had to analyze each platform and see how each platform functioned. We also had to see which of those platforms are popular among the residents. The whole VFR Project was to assure the people that Dubai is a safe destination to travel to because they adhere to safety precautions and is open for tourism.

I learned a lot of things during my Internship with Dubai Tourism and one of those things were working with people whom I've never worked with before. It was challenging for me since some of them had issues with the way I did things and some also had issues with the whole group that we were on. Anger and frustration were formed but I thought myself not to involve personal issues in a workplace.

Working on this project made me aware of the different types of platforms that were available in the UAE. It also helped me work on my communication skills since I had to talk with many people from different backgrounds. We had multiple teams that had to come together in the final week to bring this whole project to light. Doing this was the biggest challenge in the end since the communication between all groups was key. We faced so many issues too since not everyone wanted to contribute during the last week since this was a combined project between all groups. In the end, we all performed really well and got appreciation from the Guest and our managers.
